Efficient naturalness restoration for non-uniform illumination images

چکیده
Abstract: This study presents a novel image-naturalness restoration for the purpose of achieving better image quality with respect to the human visual system. Specifically, the authors suppress the artefacts around edges using image gradient components. They also appropriately enhance the image brightness using an adaptive gamma correction. In particular, they simply create a mapping curve to adjust the contrast, and then perform contrast enhancement. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm outperforms other state-of-the-art algorithms in terms of subjective and objective quality measures, and even computational speed. Therefore they believe that the proposed approach can be a useful tool to improve the visual quality of images under non-uniform illumination.

Modified Panel Splitting Naturalness Preservation For Non- Uniform Illumination Images
Image enhancement is an important tool for processing image. There exits many enhancement algorithms, in which Retinex algorithm enhance details of an image and is widely used. Retinex algorithm can remove illumination but cannot maintain the range of reflectance, hence it is not essential for non-uniform illumination images. So to preserve naturalness along with enhancing the details we propos...
متن کاملNon-uniform illumination endoscopic imaging enhancement via anti-degraded model and L1L2-based variational retinex
In this paper, we propose a novel image enhancement algorithm via anti-degraded model and L1L2-based variational retinex (AD-L1L2VR) for non-uniform illumination endoscopic images. Firstly, a haze-free endoscopic image is obtained by an anti-degraded model named dark channel prior (DCP). For getting a more accurate transmission map, it is refined by using a guided image filtering. Secondly, the...
متن کاملConsiderations Regarding the use of the Biologically Inspired Retinex Algorithm in Art Conservation-Restoration
This paper addresses the problem of separating the illumination from the reflectance in images and compensating for non-uniform lighting. Recorded images of mural paintings suffer from significant losses in visual quality, compared to the direct eye observation when there are spatial or spectral variations in illumination. The visibility of detail in shadows is poor for recorded images and ther...
متن کاملBlind restoration for nonuniform aerial images using nonlocal Retinex model and shearlet-based higher-order regularization
Aerial images are often degraded by space-varying motion blur and simultaneous uneven illumination. To recover high-quality aerial image from its non-uniform version, we propose a novel patch-wise restoration approach based on a key observation that the degree of blurring is inevitably affected by the illuminated conditions. A nonlocal Retinex model is developed to accurately estimate the refle...
متن کاملFace Recognition in Non-Uniform Illumination Conditions Using Lighting Normalization and SVM
An efficient face recognition scheme is developed to recognize face in color images with non-uniform illumination conditions. The proposed scheme comprises two phases, namely face detection and face recognition. For the face detection phase, a lighting normalization function and an isosceles triangle approach are utilized to detect facial regions accurately. For the recognition phase, a SVM sch...
